The Prince and the Pea Bed

You may recall that we have been working to transition James into a new bed to get the crib ready for BabyE2. Sunday was the final transition --- Patrick came home from fishing with his brothers and created an awesome base for James' mattress. There is also room for 3 storage drawers underneath!

The bed was finished after James was asleep - so we quietly moved him, and brought in the bed. Since he had been on the mattress on the floor previously - this looked like he was towering above (hence the prince and the pea reference!)

Sunday was pretty humid/ hot - so I briefly put his blankets on him to get a cute picture.
He is a big fan of the bedding!

Since the bed felt so high - we did bring in extra pillows in case he fell out of bed.
Not sure if he fell because we never heard him cry - but I did find him curled up on the ground two times Sunday night.

I was a little concerned he wouldn't like it - but once he was awake Monday morning he was pumped! While we often still get "no" when he means "yes" (example - do you want a cookie? - No! - definitely means yes) When I asked him if he liked his new bed I got a very energetic - YEAH!
(and so far - yeah or yes - ALWAYS means YES!)

We did realize Monday that he was facing the opposite way than when he was in the crib bed - so rolling the one direction that had been "safe" previously was landing him on the floor.
Last night we switched his pillow and added the noodle back under the bed sheet and he stayed in bed all night!
