Memorial Day Weekend

We kicked off the summer in our usual way --- a long weekend at Pearl Lake!

Both boys are happy in the life jackets (Jimmy more than Ikey!)

Love that the pontoon boat doubles as a play pen!

I think there is going to be lots of fishing this summer!

Even though the water is still chilly, James had a great time playing in the shallow

I think our biggest challenge this summer will be keeping Isaac from burning in the sun!
Didn't have his swim suit, so he was rockin' the 1900's swim suit look!

James is pretty comfortable in the water - one time he got out too far and "swam" back to shore --- he didn't cry until he was standing again and realized what had just happened.
After that he jumped on the Big Mable and was happy to be "safe" so it made going for a ride on big Mable a breeze!

I love this picture! Isaac wants to do everything the big kids do - daycare says he is 10 months going on 3 years! Look at the determination in his eyes!

Ready to ride Big Mable!

High Fives!

They had a great time!

Check out this big fish!
James wasn't too sure :)

Making fish faces at the fish!

Patrick got a nice ski run in --- still too cold for me!

Hanging out with Grammy on the booze cruise --- there were discussions about drawing straws on who stays home with Isaac each weekend --- he was a beast and not easily amused by our efforts to entertain him. Hoping once he is walking things will be better - the combination of the life jacket getting in the way and the rug burn on his knees makes for a cranky crawler!

More grey truck rides!

So Patrick and Corey wanted to try making Norwegian stump lanterns at the fire pit.
Basically you cut an X in the top and then stuff it with pine needles and leaves and then the stump burns from the inside and looks like a lantern.
Their efforts to create the X were entertaining to say the least.
Corey had A LOT of faith in Patrick!

Pretty! And fitting to have a beautiful fire on Memorial day weekend in memory of Uncle Mark.

Sunday was very rainy so we spent a good chunk of time in the train shed - Nolan and Bryce came over to play too - nice to have some little buddies on the lake, especially when the cousins aren't around.

Niki had a bunch of friends from her triathlon team up for the weekend and they made the most of the time despite the weather!

James wasn't too fussed by the rain either - or the fact that he wasn't wearing his suit!
